Investing in well-being and mental health should be a priority for media companies and institutions. It not only makes business sense, it also means better journalism and more resilient societies.
The return on investment of workplace mental health interventions is overwhelmingly positive, with an ROI of 5:1 (Deloitte, 2022)

Our team did a 6-week course in which we reflected, discussed, and considered how we communicate to one another, how we can help one another and spot periods of stress or anxiety, and encourage colleagues to take breaks. It’s been incredibly valuable.

I never took such a course before and I'm grateful I did. I feel like I’m finding myself again. I know what are the causes that make me feel emotionally and sometimes physically uncomfortable. Now I understand what to do to become a better and happier 'me'.

A mental health program for Arabic-speaking journalists in collaboration with ICFJ
We partnered with ICFJ to provide their first-ever mental health course to journalists in the Middle East. More than 1.000 participants signed up and the training was highly appreciated. We translated a selection of our video materials into Arabic and advised on the curriculum.
Topical workshops and awareness raising activities
We co-create and lead different types of mental health awareness sessions adapted to the specific needs of various communities. These range from one-off webinars (on topics such as burnout or ecoanxiety) to short courses, such as the one we produced for environmental journalists and communicators.
Academic institutions
Mental health and well-being should be core values in journalism education. That’s why we collaborate with academic and training institutions to incorporate key topics like stress management and coaching leadership style in their curricula.
We work with students in undergraduate and graduate programs, and most importantly, we focus on continuing or executive education opportunities, used by media workers and leaders to update their knowledge.
Our work with academic and training institutions includes:
- Facilitation of practical workshops and delivery of plenary sessions in existing programs at graduate and undergraduate level.
- Design and creation of audiovisual and written learning materials.
- Mentoring and coaching of students.
